Historic 1886 Mingus Mill, Oconaluftee Visitor Center, on North Carolina side of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, USA.
Mingus Mill is a half-mile north of the Oconaluftee Visitor Center in Great Smoky Mountains National Park on Newfound Gap Road, on the North Carolina side. Built in 1886 on its present site, this historic grist mill uses a water-powered turbine instead of a water wheel to power all of the machinery in the building. Water flows down a millrace to a working cast iron turbine in the mill. A miller demonstrates the process of grinding corn into cornmeal, available for purchase at the mill.Add to Cart Add to Lightbox Download
