The Scarlet Ibis (Eudocimus ruber, in the bird family Threskiornithidae) inhabits tropical South America and islands of the Caribbean. Photographed in the Vancouver Aquarium, 845 Avison Way, Vancouver, British Columbia, V6G 3E2, CANADA. Their color comes from food that's rich in carotene. This medium-sized wader is a hardy, numerous, and prolific bird that is protected around the world. (A number of scientists want to reclassify it as a subspecies of a more general American ibis species along with its close relative Eudocimus albus.)Add to Cart Add to Lightbox Download
