The Baroque, onion-domed Church of St. Johann in Ranui was built in 1744 and dedicated to Saint Johannes Nepomuk. The Geisler/Odle Group of Dolomites mountains rises nearly 1000 meters above the church in Val di Funes (Villnöß valley), Italy. John of Nepomuk, or Nepomucenea, is a national saint of the Czech Republic, the first martyr of the Seal of the Confessional, a patron against calumnies, and a protector from floods.
